The 9 images reproduced in Naoya Hatakeyama’s One Picture Book River Series / Shadow are born from his “River Series” project of 1993–94. “Shadow” refers not only to the reflections on the water surface of these images, but also to Talbot’s On the Art of Fixing a Shadow. Naoya Hatakeyama was born in Japan in 1958. His work is has been widely exhibited internationally, and is included in such important public and private collections as Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Victoria and Albert Museum, London; and The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo. A very limited number of A/P copies are available.
